The only way you can be prepared for in-class participation is by watching the films prior to the class periods where they will be discussed. Many of the films are available on netflix streaming, though I recommend that you subscribe to the netflix streaming +1 disc if you want to watch the films at your leisure. You can watch the films anytime at the Malone library, and I encourage you to watch them in groups. If you let me know in advance I can even schedule the Student Media Center Storytelling Center for groups to watch your films.
PLEASE make provisions to watch the movie in plenty of time for the class. Do NOT wait until the night before to watch the film -- unless you have the film in your possession. If you bank on the library on the last day, you will inevitably be disappointed.
All of the films we will watch this semester are available through Netflix and Blockbuster online. Like reading any other text to prepare for a seminar class, watching these films for class demands that you “read” them carefully. You should take notes on each film; we will discuss multiple techniques for taking notes in class.
